ACT State Nomination (190 and 491 visa streams)

ACT State nomination is for those who are interested in living and working in ACT or Australian Capital Territory.

Subclass 491 visa scheme:

This visa is valid for 5 years with the ability to apply for permanent residency after 3 years.

The criteria for the 491 visa through the ACT nomination:

    1. Must be a resident of the ACT by living and working in Canberra for the last 3 months and continue until the date of invitation
    2. Partner and children must be in Canberra for the last 3 months or overseas
    3. Must sign a commitment to live and work in Canberra for at least 2 years from date of visa grant
    4. Must meet one of the nomination pathways:
    5. Nominated occupation is on the latest ACT Critical Skills List
    6. Primary visa holder on 457/482 sponsored by an ACT employer and have been working in the nominated occupation in Canberra for the sponsoring business for at least 3 months as the holder of a 457/482 visa; the nominated occupation on 457/482 visa does not have to be on the ACT Critical Skills List
    7. You are the majority owner of an eligible registered business located in the ACT and you are claiming Matrix Points on the Small Business Owner Category. Business types that are not eligible for consideration under this pathway include sub tenancy, ride-share, taxi, delivery, courier services or an on-sold business previously used to qualify for ACT nomination; the nominated occupation does not need to be on the ACT Critical Skills List

Subclass 190 visa scheme:

  1. Must be Canberra resident by living and working in Canberra for the last 6 months and continue until the date of invitation
  2. Partner and children must be in Canberra for the last 3 months or overseas
  3. Must sign a commitment to live and work in Canberra for at least 2 years from date of visa grant
  4. Must meet one of the nomination pathways:
  5. Nominated occupation is on the latest ACT Critical Skills List
  6. Primary visa holder on 457/482 sponsored by an ACT employer and have been working in the nominated occupation in Canberra for the sponsoring business for at least 6 months as the holder of a 457/482 visa; the nominated occupation on 457/482 visa does not have to be on the ACT Critical Skills List
