We are British citizens from Manchester and have 3 grown up sons , the middle son has been in Adelaide for almost 10 years with his wife and two teenage grandchildren. He has recently been joined by our youngest son and their two young girls who are just Eight and Four. We are hoping in the near future that we will finally be joined by our oldest son along with another of our grandchildren , making five of them here in Adelaide.
Making the decision to want to come and live here was definitely led by the desire to enjoy our family and the immense benefits that living here in Australia presents. Watching our oldest grandchildren grow and flourish here as well as my son and his wife develop careers and business ventures helped to make the decision whilst all the time hoping that our visa grant would make this dream come true.
We applied for and have both been granted Subclass 870 provisional parent visas providing us with a five-year visa.
No more tearful goodbyes at the airport, only being able to communicate most of the time by video link took its toll, as well as missing out on all the important events and just generally not being able to hug them when it mattered. All this has now started to change and being issued with parent visas was such an emotional time that we have now realised that dream.
It’s fair to say, immigration law is in our opinion complex, time consuming and a maze of what ifs and how to tasks. We certainly could not have succeeded in this undertaking it without the benefit of the team at MDU. The knowledge, expertise and guidance made this process much simpler and we felt supported every step of the way. Looking back the wait has all been worth it but you have to go into with your eyes open and take the advice given on board.
The biggest thing we are looking forward to is having all our family together again hopefully for Christmas on the beach! Although just waking up each morning knowing our family are here and not thousands of miles away makes each day extra special.
Hopefully our oldest son’s visa application is not too far from review and we are hopeful of a positive outcome. To have all our children along with grandchildren here is something we just didn’t think could happen but also with the eventual opportunity to apply for PR we are looking forward to many happy times without having to worry about being separated.
For anyone thinking of wanting to migrate, weigh up the pros and cons (there are many, many pros) get the professional advice to make it happen ,then live the dream. We have and we are delighted.
