"I had a great experience with Migration Downunder.  Julie and Nathan explained the pros and cons of various options and helped me make the best decision. They have been very prompt with my requests and made the entire process smooth and easy. I am so grateful for their advice and for making it so easy for me to get my mother here on a long-term Australian parent visa."

Maimoona & Shahida‘s Story – Subclass 870 Sponsored Parent (Temporary) Visa

Tell us a bit about yourselves.

My name is Maimoona – I am a daughter, mother, wife, banker and an Australian citizen living in Sydney with my family.

I was born to Pakistani parents and have lived in Thailand, Singapore, Hong Kong, South Africa and Australia for work and studies. My husband and I initially came to Australia as tourists in 2015 and fell in love with the country. We immigrated to Australia in 2017. As I am the only child and my father passed away several years ago, my mother was all by herself. Hence, my husband and I thought it made sense for my mother, Shahida, to join us in Australia for the long term.

Whilst we wait for my mother’s permanent residency to be processed, she has been granted a Subclass 870 visa.

What does this mean for you and your family?

My mother is absolutely thrilled to be staying close to us. She is also able to spend quality time with her granddaughter. We are both at peace as we are able to spend time together, can better take care of each other’s health/well-being and do not have to worry about not being able to meet each other if there is a lockdown, as we had experienced during COVID. We have plans to travel within Australia and are very excited about our upcoming trip to Tasmania!
