NSW state government have announced applications for state nomination under the Subclass 491 visa stream will open on Monday 15th June 2020, for seven working days,  and will cease from 5:00pm on Tuesday, 23rd June 2020.

The state government also stated the applications will be assessed by the end of financial year, Tuesday 30th June 2020, which indicates that should you succeed in securing the NSW state nomination approval under the Subclass 491 pathway, you would be able to receive an invitation from the Department of Home Affairs before the new financial year begins.

Only applicants who meet the following criteria will be assessed:

  • Meeting all the subclass 491 visa requirements by the Department of Home Affairs; and
  • Have an occupation on the NSW Stream 1 Regional Skilled Occupation List; and
  • Have been living in a designated regional area** in NSW for at least the last 12 months; and
  • Have been working in a designated regional area** in NSW for at least the last 12 months; and
  • Have been working in your nominated occupation, or a closely related occupation for at least the last 12 months
