Sandra’s Story – 820 Partner Visa
Tell us a bit about your background
I am originally from Spain and came to Australia in 2022. I met Hamish, my partner, in 2019 in Scotland while we were both doing a uni exchange. In early 2020, Hamish returned to Australia and I went back to Spain to continue studying. We started long distance and due to the pandemic, we had to cancel some of our plans to visit each other, although Hamish managed to visit me in 2021. Finally, after more than 2 years of long distance, I was able to come to Australia in April 2022, once the borders had reopened.
How was your experience with Migration Downunder?
We had our first consultation with Alice in February this year, which was fantastic. Researching the visa process beforehand made us worry about the complexity of the process, but Alice did an amazing job simplifying the process for us and putting us at ease with our situation. We were provided templates and a list of every document we had to submit. The Migration Downunder team answered all our questions, reviewed all our documents thoroughly, and supported and advised us throughout the whole process.
We were both very surprised when, just a month after the application for the 820 partner visa, I received the grant letter with the 820 visa.
What are your plans for the future?
My plan now is to settle down in Australia and set a life here alongside Hamish. Moreover, in less than two years now I will be able to apply for the last step of this visa process and get permanent residency.
