Together Again – A Family Reunited in Sydney, Australia

If you truly want something hard enough dreams really can come true! After what seems a pipe dream I am blessed to say my mum sister and her family have now arrived in Australia for good. It has taken a while but with both help and guidance provided by MDU they got it right first time. I can honestly say to witness my family running down the hill to greet me and my family at the beach on Christmas Day wearing Santa Hats the lot summed it in one ! Friends come and go but family is forever and knowing we can spend any day not just special days together and to be able to help each other out really does make the whole future brighter.

At Migration Downunder, we believe that family is at the heart of everything. In the lead-up to Mother’s Day, we are honoured to share the story of Steve and his family – a story that reminds us of the power of persistence, the strength of family bonds, and the joy that comes with being together.

Steve, his wife, and their children have called Australia home for over 15 years. Yet one thing was always missing – the rest of the family. Thanks to the support of Migration Downunder, Steve’s sister Zoe, a Registered Nurse from the UK, secured permanent residence for herself and her family through the Subclass 190 visa (state nomination pathway). Not only that, but their mother, Vivien, also made the move and has recently lodged a permanent parent visa – making this Mother’s Day truly special.

“If you truly want something hard enough, dreams really can come true!” says Steve.
“After what seemed a pipe dream, I am blessed to say my mum, sister, and her family have now arrived in Australia for good. It has taken a while, but with both help and guidance provided by MDU they got it right first time. I can honestly say, to witness my family running down the hill to greet me and my family at the beach on Christmas Day – wearing Santa hats and the lot – summed it all up in one moment!
Friends come and go but family is forever. Knowing we can spend any day – not just special days – together, and to be able to help each other out, really does make the whole future brighter.”

For Vivien, this move marked the end of long airport goodbyes and the beginning of a new chapter:

“In a nutshell, I never thought it would really happen.”
“It was wished for such a long time ago, and life just gets in the way. But now I can’t believe there are no more sad goodbyes at the airport. I am here, sitting back, watching all my grandchildren playing together and strengthening their bond even more – in the beautiful sunshine, in a beautiful country.”

And for Zoe, the journey is deeply emotional and profoundly rewarding:

“I am so proud to have made the journey with my family at long last – and to have brought my Mum along the way.”
“To finally achieve an ambition and dream – to raise my family with family that we’ve been separated from for many years – really is a dream come true. Knowing you can be there for each other to help if needed, and to celebrate birthdays, anniversaries, and all the other special days together, is immeasurable. To watch our cousins grow up together… our story has just begun. And as brother and sister, we get to share having our Mum again!” This Mother’s Day, we celebrate stories like Steve’s and Zoe’s– stories of families reunited, growing up together once again, in Australia.  There’s nothing more precious than family and having your mother close by.
